Packeteer, Inc. provides
wide area network application traffic management
systems to enterprise customers and service
providers. Its application traffic management
system consists of a family of appliances,
including PacketSeeker, PacketShaper,
PacketShaper Xpress, PolicyCenter, and
ReportCenter. PacketSeeker offers application
monitoring that involves automatic
identification and classification of traffic
through Layer 7 to enable organizations to
analyze application performance and network
utilization. PacketShaper provides
application-based traffic and bandwidth
management for applications running over wide
area network and the Internet. PacketShaper
Xpress offers application traffic acceleration
by the use of company’s Web acceleration and
content compression technology. PolicyCenter is
a lightweight directory access protocol and
directory-enabled application that enables
customers to centrally administer and update
policies, software versions, and device status
for Packeteer-based networks. ReportCenter is
designed to aggregate metrics from large
deployments and create organization-wide reports
to manage trends and provide support for
capacity planning and usage analysis. The
company also offers Mentat SkyX products that
provide protocol acceleration over satellite and
long-haul networks. Packeteer sells its products
worldwide through direct sales force, resellers,
distributors, and system integrators. The
company has strategic alliances with Avaya,
Citrix Systems, Equant, Hewlett-Packard,
InfoVista, NTT Communications, and Polycom.
Packeteer was founded in 1996 and is
headquartered in Cupertino, California. |
